My name is Jorge, and I had always wanted a DSLR camera that I never bought. Today I am 61 years old, and about four months ago my older brother gave me one of his, the EOS 400D. With it, I have been learning and taking photos of my grandchildren, especially while they play football. Everything was going well until I saw an EOS 40D on Wallapop that wouldn’t turn on, selling for 20€. So first, I looked into what could be wrong with it and whether it could be repaired. The seller didn’t know anything, and it didn’t even have batteries. I took the risk and bought it. When it arrived, I had to wait for two batteries and a charger, all blindly. Once I had everything, I charged the batteries, inserted a memory card and the battery, and switched it on, but it did nothing. I removed the battery and card, set the dial to P, turned it on, and held the shutter for a little over 15 seconds. I turned it off, switched the dial to manual, put the battery and card back in, and crossed my fingers as I turned it on—and voila... the camera was working, and it’s a delight for football.

My grandchildren are very happy; I hope to learn from you, as it is not easy. I take a lot of photos and also delete many.

Wow, I'd say you hit the jackpot on that deal!
