Greetings. I recently upgraded from a SX70 HS to an R50. So far I've figured out just about everything I need to know, with one exception. The auto level in the SX70 was very clear in the view finder and quite useful. With the R50, I've found the Auto Level setting in the menu and Enabled the setting, but it is not working. This was a feature I really liked in the SX70 and would hate to do without. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Are you referring to the "Auto Level" feature which keeps movies level, or the electronic level which shows in the viewfinder and allows you to judge for yourself if the camera is level or not?
OK, I dug and dug and figured out how to turn on the electronic level. But this seems to only work when I view the through rear screen but not through the upper viewfinder. I'll keep digging.
if its like the M50 you can turn alot of visual aids like this on and off in the wrench menus, you then can toggle through them with the info button one thing to note, again if its like the M50 is some of there focus aids clash with others so you may have turned it on in the menu but its being canceled out by something else facebook specific R50 group will be a huge help
welcome to the forum, Bill, you should be able to down load a copy of the manual to the camera from Canon's web site on the internet.
I did that weeks ago, it is 810 pages long, but I'm sure all my answers are buried in there somewhere.
have you tried toggling through the screens with the INFO button while shooting, the level indicator should be in one of those if not it might be something like eye detect etc thats conflicting with it so turn other shooting aids off to see if it comes back when you toggle through the screen options with info button
I finally figured it out and have things working the way I like now. But . . . setting this option up was definitely not "user friendly"!
