I must be doing something wrong. I have my trusty EF 24-105mm L lens attached via a genuine Canon EF EOS-R adapter. Things seem to be ok so far but the viewfinder (with rear screen closed) is never in focus whatever the dioptre adjustment. I have tried 7 or 8 times, from one end of the range to the other and it is never in focus. I have been using a 6D for 7 years or so and have never had this problem. Any ideas, all you experts out there? Thanks in advance
how are you setting it? do you allow the camera to auto focus then switch to manual mode so the focus is locked in then change the diopter?
No. I set the lens to manual focus, point the lens at a object on the horizon and then adjust the dioptre. Is that wrong?
No. I set the lens to manual focus, focus the lens manually at an object on the horizon and then adjust the dioptre. Is that wrong?
if you are focusing the lens manually what are you using to view that? reason i suggested auto focus is the camera should focus 100% dead on if you are using single box auto focus, then when you lock it off into manual so the focus cant change you are looking at the focus selected by the camera, you can also then check the computer if the image was indeed 100% sharp not sure on the exact way your diopter switch is presented but on mine i have drawn a thin silver sharpie line across the adjuster and the body of the adjuster so i can see at a glance if i have accidentally bumped it later on
Thanks. I shall try that over the weekend and report back. I don't see any marks on the dioptre adjuster wheel...
