Since a couple years back I started noticing a black vertical line near the middle in every photo. After a lot of trial and error I realized this only happens at ISO 100. Here you can see it slicing through the hibiscus. I attach also a photo at ISO 200 for comparison. So... I can live with it, but it's a bummer. do you have any tips? Searching around the internet tells me basically the sensor might need replacement, and then one might as well just get a new camera. Is it really a broken sensor if it only happens at ISO 100? Firmware update did not fix it. Thanks in advance for tips!
Does this line show on: Live view - a loupe might be needed to see it a RAW image? a JPEG image? Both?
Hey thanks for your suggestions! The line does appear in RAW, snippet attached below. Here we can also see how the color of the line changes with the color of the motif. I do not see the line in live view.
thanks for your reply, I wonder if i might have a scratch.. but the line is perfectly vertical, stretching all the way from top to bottom. A scratch would probably have a curvature?
I am baffled by this problem. The only alternatives I can suggest is a) try resetting the camera to its factory defaults and if that doesn't resolve the issue, then b) living with the problem by not using 100 ISO, or cloning out the line on every image if you do use 100 ISO. Sorry I can't offer any other positiver solutions.
