    Hi
I recently took ownership of my Dads Cannon 40D, he has dementia and can't use it anymore. My daughter has taken up photography with it. The problem is that there is a red taint to the images (see attached image). My Dad used to take astronomical images with this camera I think if this may have a bearin? This is his Flickr site. https://www.flickr.com/photos/10393250@N06/

Any help would very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Alan

Have you checked the custom color balance dialed in, you may want to make sure your using a default settings in your menus.
Also, have you confirmed there is no red filter on the camera lens, i see he has multiple images where there is red in space accentuated.

    Hi Johnsey

Thank you for your reply. Could you point me to where this menu is?

    Thanks

This is your manual posted on canons website.

Page 63 talks abut custom picture style where manual color tone and saturation can be set. Among other settings like contrast. You can use a preset style or dial in a custom,ye may have dialed in RED here somewhere.

Page 68 is custom White balance, probably not your issue, as its more likely to turn an image green than red.. But also good to have an understanding of how these could impact the image.

Again my first thought is that the lens had a filter on the front or back of it that was red, but he definitely could have dialed in a custom color tone as well.
