Hi all. I have a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 lens, which I use on my Canon R7. Because this lens will not work on a full frame camera will its focul length still be 1-16 or do i need to consider the 1.6 crop.
if you are switching between full frame and crop cameras in general it might be easier on the mind to think of the 11-16mm as a 17-25mm for the frame size focal length is whats on the lens, it dosnt change from sensor size to sensor size, what does change is the crop, how much of the image you see, ie, if you look at the house across the street through your open front door then look through the letter box with the door shut the house is still the same distance away, just looks bigger because the frame (crop) is smaller the advantage of a crop / smaller sensor is like for like pixel wise there are more pixels on the target.
Thanks for your reply Caladina. It appears this lens is only made for cop sensor cameras. I am not using it on full frame only on my R7. As it will not work on full frame I thought the 11-16 was set for crop
what i ment by swapping between cameras was if you are using a full frame camera with other lenses if you are just using a crop camera for all your photography then what you got is what your focal is
