I need your help. I’m trading my Nikon gear in tomorrow for an R5 II and a Canon 28-70 zoom. Having been a Nikon guy since 1983, I know little about these lenses. I do see the max aperture difference and I see the f2.8 has IS. Aside from that, what is your opinion. I do very few portraits or weddings. I do a good bit of street photography, and what could be considered photojournalism. Some landscape. I’ll have more time to study and decide on a couple other lenses, but I’m not taking the new camera home tomorrow without something on the front of it. Wide angle and telephoto later. HELP Mike
Well canon is pretty straight forward, if you want their pro grade lenses they are L's like the one your looking at which will have weather sealing and their highest optical quality. I think the extra grand to have the 28-70 f2 is worth the fraction of a stop difference. But I would look online for reviews comparing the bokeh and wide open sharpness if your that curious. They also make a 24-105 f4 which may be a bit more versatile at weddings with a slight extra reach, so maybe that's a good all around lens while you research the others? The EF version of 24-105 was a wedding lens photographer favorite for 20 years. Also you can adapt and use any EF mount lenses so that can open your options.
