dont know the lens at all but on searching i think that the DL and APO designations are two different lenses, the APO being the better of the two, the image you show seems to have an APO marking on it,

from my own experience with other sigma lenses
the lenses i have which are marked APO are indeed very good but i only go back as far as the EX series

as for the fitment ask for images of the rear element to make sure its a canon mount or show us them from the sales blurb if you have them
others here my know of the lens better than i

DL is the old Sigmas without the more modern lens coatings.
It comes in multiple brands and mounts., hence why your probably getting more results on the pentaz K mount version ..(K mount is 50 years and going, EF had a 30 year run having replaced canon FD mount, but now RF is the mirrorless mount..

If it is indeed EF mount as advertised then it will fit on your 400d. Its a cheap lens I would not pay more than 50 for and you could probably find a better lens under 100 used with similar focal range.

Sorry this is a bit late. A lot of the older Sigmas for Canon will only work properly on film, since they back-engineered the control codes without knowing that more were in the chip but not actually in use on film cameras in real Canon lenses. DSLRs use slightly different control codes, and that looks like it comes from that era. Be very wary. It also looks like the black anti-slip coating is going a bit sticky, which can be horrible to work with.
