Lately the mail dial on my Canon 6D seems tight & does not move easily. I assume that it could possibly be simply dirt accumulation. After all these years, a thorough cleaning would seem to be in order. I am curious if this would be a DIY project or best left to Canon or other professionals. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you so much.

I am not comfortable with the approach this guy took, that was way to much cleaning fluid sprayed in the body for my comfort level.

I think I would try taking a cotton swab and getting it damp with isopropyl alcohol since its fast drying and just work around the outside of the dial and allow it to soak in slowly. Then work the dial and repeat the swabbing step as needed to see if you could loosen up the stickyness.

If its really gunked up i think it may need a canon servicing,

I agree, Johnsey. Unfortunately, Canon no longer repairs the EOS 6D (too old, I assume). Previously I tried 90% ispropyl alcohol applied with a cotton swab, but to no avail. I'm working if a knowledgeable & reputable company like B&H might do thorough cleaning & repair. Any thoughts? Thank you.
