I installed the Canon Camera Connect app on my iPhone and iPad to communicate with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

I can't get it to connect. Sometimes it works briefly, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time, it doesn't.

A good friend of mine has the exact same problem: he can't connect either. His camera is the R6 Mark II. He's really knowledgeable, so it's not a lack of experience. It is not a coincidence that it's not working for either of us.

I've scoured the internet and YouTube and found nothing except the necessary tutorials.

But here's the thing: it works with an Android tablet!

Does anyone know if the Canon app does not works well with Apple devices?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Canon Camera Connect is well known for being unreliable on iPhone and iPad. iOS manages Wi-Fi very strictly, which often breaks the camera connection. Android handles this better, so it feels more stable. It’s a Canon app issue, not your fault.

I've been using it with an iphone for location data since I got my R6II in 2024 and have not had any connectivity problems. I am using Bluetooth to connect, it was easy to pair, I don't remember and trouble. There are a lot of videos online to help you connect, here's the first one I found, I don't know if it is the best, but it is pretty straight forward and detailed.

When using for location it seems to grab the GPS data at the beginning of a session and not change if you move, so it is best to disconnect and reconnect after changing locations.
