December 1979. An old joiner's workshop in Schiltigheim (Alsace - France), which was soon to be closed. The carpenter, wearing overalls, a beret and a pair of Charentaises shoes. The place is a cheerful mess. Rembrandt-style lighting from a large window, and smoke from the wood-burning stove that fills the room. Competing with the Gitanes maïs: the craftsman's cigarette, which goes out when you put it down. Original shot with Nikon F2 and Tri-X developed at 1200 ASA (ISO was not yet in use), hence the somewhat unusual appearance of the image... The negative was digitized with my Canon R6 MKII and a RF 100mm Macro lens.
