I purchased as used EF 24-105 F4 L IS USM lens and everything seems to be functioning properly but when I look at the front of the lens, it does not appear to be even with the front threads. Is this a problem? Thx!

Photo of the situation? Does it take sharp photos?
I think you probably could return but have a short coverage window with ebay/paypal or however it was purchased.

Do you think that you will ever be screwing in filters onto the front of this lens? If not, I can't really see it being a problem.

It sort of begs the question on how the thread got uneven with the filter threads.

you could try the decentering test, focus your lens wide open on the chart and manually defocus it and see if the center dot pulls to one side indicating a decentered optic

is it for sure the optic that off or the cover ring that may be off and the glass itself is correct? lens star chart.jpg
