I like some of the features of the R series cameras that the RP was lacking. I was looking at the R6 MkII and the R8. I don't typically feel the need for a dual card slot as I'm not doing professional photography that I can't recreate, and if I miss a shot, I miss it with a shrug of the shoulders.
I also would like, but don't really 'need' to have in-body stabilization. So I couldn't really justify the extra money for the R6.
I ordered the R8 and hope to have it tomorrow.

I sold my RP to MPB. I know that on-line used camera brokers don't give the top dollar, but to me, there is something to be said for dealing with a company and not an individual. Too many times on auction sites, someone will buy your product or gear and then have buyer's regret, and claim something is wrong or misrepresented, and then request a return or otherwise nit-pick the item to death. When you deal with a reselling company like MPB or KEH, you won't get what you would get selling to an individual, but you virtually eliminate most of the hassle - in my mind.

I'm excited for the new body - I've read a lot of reviews and while everyone is different, I think it will fit my needs, budget, and style

Congrats on the upgrade, we will be interested in hearing how the journey to the R8 goes.

I will likely buy a R 8 tomorrow. Are you pleased with yours so far?

I am really happy with it. The learning curve is not too steep- I can say that the only thing I would count as a drawback is that it doesn’t have in body stabilization- but my lenses are stabilized and I can’t always boost the ISO to use a faster shutter speed if I need to
