Hi all, I'm a guitar teacher and have been teaching a lot of students online via Skype/Zoom. I've been using my 100D as a webcam via Canon's webcam utility and it's been working well the last year or so, however the frame rate isn't the best and there's a noticeable delay between the video and the audio (not great for teaching music). With this in mind I was looking to upgrade my camera, the key specs I'm looking for being: 1) Clean HDMI out (to eliminate audio sync issues) 2) Good autofocus 3) Ability to run unlimited amount of time with DC power After some research I narrowed it down to the M50 Mark II and 250D (leaning towards the M50), however after doing some research before buying I'm a little concerned whether I will be able to do what I need with these cameras. Both offer clean HDMI out so no problem there, but I've seen conflicting reports about whether you're able to run the M50 Mark II for an unlimited amount of time. From what I've read no matter what you do it will auto power off after 30 minutes, despite being able to select "disable" in the menus. When I first started using my 100D as a webcam I ran into the same issue, but I saw online that due to a glitch setting the auto power off to 2 minutes (I set it to 15) somehow stops it. Using that I've been able to run my 100D for hours on end without issue. With this in mind has anyone used the 250D indefinitely using this auto power off glitch (I read it might only be Canon's DSLR's that can do this)? If so this may sway me to getting the 250D rather than the M50. I've read there is also a workaround for the M50 Mark II where if you plug it in via USB and connect to EOS Utility it can be run indefinitely, however I was hoping that I could just connect it via HDMI without also having to connect via USB and run another program in the background (that doesn't feel like much of an improvement on my current setup). Does anyone have any experience with either camera for streaming / webcam use that can give any insight? Thanks in advance
